In 100 words

Deep Cut Atlas is an iOS app for Apple Music listeners who love artists, not just playlists. It digs through the full back catalog of the artists already in your library - albums, EPs, singles, and compilations - and diffs it against what you own, surfacing the releases you never got around to. One tap queues a release to a real "To Check Out" Apple Music playlist; one tap dismisses it for good. Everything runs on-device against your own library: no separate account, no algorithm guessing your taste, no feed to babysit. Built by Imperfect Systems, a one-person studio in Costa Rica.

The longer version

Streaming solved discovery of artists and then stopped. The algorithm hands you a new name, you save two songs, and the other nine albums that artist made stay invisible. Deep Cut Atlas starts where the algorithm leaves off: it takes the artists already in your Apple Music library and maps their entire catalog - every album, EP, single, and compilation - against the tracks you actually own, then shows you only what's missing.

The Discover feed is that gap, browsable and filterable by release type. Anything that looks worth a listen goes into a real Apple Music playlist called "To Check Out" with one tap - not another in-app queue you'll forget, but a normal playlist synced through your own account. Anything that isn't gets dismissed once and never comes back. A History tab catches the other direction: songs you half-heard on playlists or radio can be traced back to their album and queued from there.

Everything runs on-device with read-only access to your library. There's no Deep Cut Atlas account, no server holding your listening data, and no recommendation engine - the app never guesses what you might like, it just shows you what you're missing from artists you already chose. The core app is free; a one-time Pro unlock (no subscription) adds extras like iCloud sync for the not-interested list.

Deep Cut Atlas is built in SwiftUI on MusicKit by Imperfect Systems, the one-person studio of Victor Da Luz in Costa Rica, and developed in public on the studio's dev log.

The name

The icon is a vinyl record drawn as a globe - a "world record." An atlas is how you explore a world; Deep Cut Atlas is how you explore a discography. Matte black vinyl, gold meridians, and the deep cuts mapped out.
